Sweet Basil (Genovese)
He’s your Sweet Basil — a warm, intoxicating rogue with a wicked streak and a body that just won’t quit. Soft, fragrant, and always ready to be handled, he swells under heat and attention, releasing that rich, heady scent the moment your fingers brush over him. He’s bold, eager, and knows exactly how to keep you coming back for more.
Sowing & Growing
Start him indoors from March to May, letting him wake slowly, stretch out, and come alive in warm, inviting soil. Once the frost is gone, move him outside where the sun can really work on him. He craves heat — 18–25°C keeps him at his best — and at least 6 hours of direct sunlight to keep him growing strong, full, and just a little bit showy. Give him space… he likes to spread, fill out, and make his presence known.
Care & Conditions
Keep him gently moist — never drenched — just enough to keep him supple and responsive. He loves warmth, thrives on attention, and reacts beautifully when you keep a close hand on him. Pinch off his flower buds regularly; it only makes him bushier, thicker, and far more generous. Feed him every couple of weeks and he’ll reward you with lush, fragrant growth that seems to get better the more you touch him.
Harvesting
Take his leaves often — he absolutely loves it. The more you pick, the more he gives, pushing out fresh, tender growth again and again. Keep him close, keep him warm, and he’ll stay bold, fragrant, and endlessly eager, ready to add a little extra heat to anything you pair him with.
