Rocket (arugula)
Fast and fiery, this peppery menace is shamelessly full of bite. Those sharp green leaves don’t just grow… they snap and flex, like he’s showing off for you on purpose. There’s a kick to him that hits quick and lingers — bold, cheeky, and just dangerous enough to keep you coming back, even when you know he’s trouble.
Sowing & Growing
Slide him straight into the soil from March through September and he won’t hang about. He shoots up fast, stretching, twisting, and making sure he’s noticed. Give him about 15 cm of space — he likes room to rise, fill out, and show off that bold, peppery form. Sow little and often and he’ll keep coming back for you… eager, relentless, and never quite satisfied with just one round.
Care & Conditions
Keep him teasingly moist — never soaked — just enough to keep him crisp and ready. Thin him early and he’ll bulk up nicely, growing fuller, sharper, and far more tempting. He thrives in cooler weather with a bit of shade, but give him attention and he’ll respond fast, pushing out fresh, spicy growth that practically dares you to pick it. Keep him protected and he’ll stay bold, punchy, and always ready to perform.
Harvesting
Take him young for a quick, cheeky kick, or cut him low when you want the full, fiery hit. The more you handle him, the more he pushes back, sending up fresh growth again and again. Fast, hot, and just a little bit addictive, he’s the kind that keeps you reaching in… and never quite lets you stop.
